 Any member of the public may comment on agenda items, as each item is presented. Individuals wishing to address the Board need to complete a Speaker Card located at the entrance to the meeting room and provide it to the recording secretary prior to the start of the meeting. Speakers are asked to limit their comments to three minutes each, and the Board president may limit the amount of discussion time for any one agenda item. For non-agenda items, there is a separate opportunity for comments during the public comment portion of the meeting. By law, board members may not enter into discussion nor take action on any item not previously published on the agenda.

a. Deferred Maintenance Budget      (D)  (V)  
  Alvaro Meza, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services and Dan McAuliffe, Manager Maintenance and Operations, will lead the discussion on the Deferred Maintenance needs of the District, revisiting the list of on-going needs discussed at the July 18, 2013 Board meeting.
         
b. Board Discussion on Priorities and Cash Flow Update      (D)  
  GUSD is projecting to benefit from the State’s enacted budget, and the implementation of the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), along with having an additional $2 million (one-time funds) to implement Common Core.  However, the District’s needs are far greater than its limited resources.  Alvaro Meza, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services will discuss the District’s budget priorities, and provide an update on the District’s cash flow.
         
c. Gilroy Bleacher Update      (D)  
  Assistant Superintendent, Alvaro Meza, and Maintenance Manager, Dan McAuliffe, will provide the Board with an update on the Gilroy High School’s stadium and possible short and long term solutions.
         
d. Revision of Board Policy 1312.3 Uniform Complaint Procedures      (D)  (V)  
 

GUSD staff will present revisions to board policy BP1312.3 Uniform Complaint Procedures.

         
e. First Reading: Board Policies Revisions      (D)  
  GUSD staff will present revisions to GUSD board policies for a first reading.
         
f. Appointment of Representative to the City of Gilroy General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC)      (D)  (V)  
  The Board will discuss the appointment of a representative to the City of Gilroy General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC).

Closed session begins at 5:30 p.m. and open session at 7:00 p.m. The agenda will be available on the district's web site by 5:00 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2013.     
         
b. PUBLIC COMMENT ON CLOSED SESSION     
  Notice is hereby given that a closed session of the Board of Education will be held under the general provisions of Government Code Section 54957. This opportunity is provided per Government Code 54954.3 to allow the public to comment prior to the Board's consideration of any closed session agenda items.
